Abstract

The technology parks are important elements in the process of product development and innovation services. In countries with successful projects, technology parks contribute to the regional and local development attracting and retaining the intellectual capital for the region of operation. This thesis presents a model for technology park with emphasis on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) especially developed for the region of Vale do Paraíba Paulista. The research presented was carried out as bibliographic documentation, with exploratory qualitative goal. We used public domain data contained in articles, reports and books. Particular emphasis was given to the model pioneered in Silicon Valley in the United States, the Chilean government initiative with the Start-up and Brazilian models, Tecnópole in Porto Alegre/RS and CIATEC in Campinas/SP. From the data obtained it was possible to develop a park model with emphasis on ICT in Brazil taking into account the specific development the Vale do Paraíba Paulista. The proposed model aims to encourage the development and research of new products and/or innovative services. The results also highlight the obstacles and difficulties in the construction of these parks.
