ADHERENCE TO THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDG) BY BRAZILIAN COMPANIES
Abstract
The concern with sustainability has grown in Brazil and in the world in recent decades. The objective of the research was to verify the adhesion of the largest companies in Brazil to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, with the purpose of characterizing the commitment of these companies with the preservation of the planet and the confrontation of climate changes. The research is characterized as qualitative and descriptive, and its development was carried out through a bibliographical and documentary survey on projects, programs and results of business actions aimed at the SDGs and made publicly available on the websites of the 10 largest companies in Brazil, based on revenue. The results indicate that the companies studied have initiatives aimed at implementing the SDGs and seem committed to a more sustainable world. It was also possible to observe that companies carry out projects and programs aimed at sustainability involving aspects such as reduction in water and energy consumption, reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and waste disposal.
