Abstract

This research aimed to identify the existence of transaction costs for a producer/trading company of forage grass seeds in Goiás state, Brazil. We tried to identify the types of contracts, its main clauses and who bears the transaction costs of contracts of seeds produced and marketed by this company. The methodology used was the qualitative case study with an intentional sample. Main results: All contracts transaction costs are paid by UNIPASTO association. There is no direct cost to the producer. The association has a legal team specialized in this field. A second result concerns to the form of coordination of the industry. In particular, it is observed that it presents coordination mechanisms consolidated from institutionalized practices, with producers / suppliers and with customers who are part of the production chain.
