Abstract

This article aims to reflect on the changes in the management of vocational education with the creation of the Federal Education, Science and Technology, based on the regulations of the Law n. 11.892/2008. Recounts the history of vocational education and the transformation of Agrotechnical School Federal Araguatins (EAFA) in Araguatins Campus, Institute of Tocantins (IFTO), explaining the elements that constituted the change, legislation, characteristics, purposes, goals, and occurs mainly as the management of this institution. Based on literature and documents, demonstrated the importance of integrating the Campus Araguatins the regional market and the benefits that come with the new structure of the organization. The creation of the federal institutes brought standardization of a model institution with more autonomy than federal technical schools, both at the administrative level and in teaching. This organizational change was also reflected in the work environment, enabled and brought new perspectives, including the behavioral change of federal civil servants and contractors involved in the process. There were no major changes towards the provision of vocational education. We conclude that what has been achieved is the implementation of higher education, so necessary for regional development, and that there is need for improvement in the area of efficient management as a social practice.
