Abstract

This paper was developed through a contextualization of themes related to traffic in Brazil, with emphasis on the planning of national and municipal urban mobility, evolution of the capital fleet of the state of Rondônia, unfolding events generated by traffic accidents and entailing expenditure on health systems and finally a proposal for smart urban mobility. The research becomes relevant based on one of the dimensions of Smart Cities that is intelligent mobility, which through planning and studies about traffic engineering presents sustainable answers, comfort to the citizen and quality of life to the population. This article aims to analyze if the investment in traffic safety leads to a better quality of life of the population. In order to answer the research problem: "What are the investments in traffic safety leading to a better population quality of life?". In order to do so, a descriptive, documentary analysis study was carried out based on a descriptive research of data referring to the municipal traffic system formulating the idea of intelligent urban mobility as a result of a better planning of the same observing the modal "smart life" of smart cities The results show the exponential growth of the fleet of the municipality of Porto Velho, investments in traffic safety through intelligent urban mobility planning become a viable and sustainable solution for a better quality of life for citizens and future generations.
