Abstract

Project management has a wide applicability in all fields and different types of projects. Companies are realizing that they can and should use the techniques and tools available to management looking for more efficient processes to meet the demands and expectations of its demanding customers. This work aims to show a proposal for applications in a project of an environmental consulting company through the good practices of the Project Management Institute guide, the PMBOK. Data were collected from the company to obtain the information for the elaboration of the study through interviews with questionnaires and audio recording to then structure the method, focusing on the initiation and planning of the project. As a result it was possible to carry out the planning and create an illustrative map with the consolidation of the steps that must be followed to structure and plan any type of project. It was also possible to increase managerial control and improve the traceability of documents, indexes, deadlines and costs. Mechanisms were developed to estimate realistic deadlines and actions were planned as a way to respond to risks to avoid failures and anticipate unfavorable situations.
