Abstract

The present article seeks to analyze the relationship between the creation of jobs and labor conflicts, taking as a reference eight cities in the Vale do Paraíba Metropolitan Region – Sub-region 1, which is a varied industrial, automotive, and mechanical region, from 2010 to 2014. This is an exploratory and documentary study, with a quantitative approach, developed from the analysis of data from those cities, obtained from the sites of the Ministry of Labor and Employment – CAGED – General Registry of Employees and of the IBGE – the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. Based on the evolution of indicators directed to the labor market in the region (unemployment rate, evolution of employment, percentage of labor lawsuits), it was found that the industrial labor relations in the Vale do Paraíba Metropolitan Region, due to its structural changes, have contributed to an increase in unemployment, generating labor conflicts. It was concluded that due to changes in the organization of the production and labor processes, outsourcing and multi-functionality appear as future tendencies in the companies, as well as the Solidarity Economy, which is seen as an alternative facing the transformations in the labor market.
